Layton was the construction manager and general contractor for a complete campus expansion at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho. The expansion essentially creates a new hospital that brings the highest levels of healthcare service to Pocatello to parallel the growth of the area and keep pace with the advances of healthcare technologies.
The new expansion includes a six-story patient tower housing 187 acute care beds, a 25-bed emergency department and 16 newborn intensive care (NICU) beds. Among a full range of healthcare services offered are cardiovascular, oncology, pediatrics, orthopedics, MRI, CT and nuclear medicine services.
Construction highlights include:
- New six-story patient tower
- Attached aircraft hangar, helipads, fueling and support facility
- Renovations and demolition
- New CUP with extensive MEP coordination
- All construction performed while facility remained open
- BIM Coordination
- LEED® Certified
The project was delivered in an astonishing 23 months—nearly two months earlier than scheduled. With the success at Portneuf Medical Center, Layton was awarded another large hospital project by the owner.
