Kane County Hospital is a replacement hospital designed to provide integrated primary care medical services to a small rural community.
In this design-build project, all areas of the hospital were designed so future expansions wouldn’t disrupt hospital operations. High staff efficiency is gained through the use of a central nursing control station supervising all acute care beds, the nursery, the labor/delivery area, the surgical suite, the emergency room and the radiology suite. A separate nursing station supports the SNF unit.
The facility includes 26 swing bed skilled nursing units, nine acute care beds, one labor/delivery/recovery (LDR) bed and one multi-purpose room that can serve as a swing bed for post anesthesia care, a second LDR, an additional acute care bed or skilled nursing facility (SNF) bed. The hospital diagnostic and treatment services includes an emergency suite for four patients, a radiology suite with a CT and ultrasound, a physical therapy suite, a laboratory and a surgical suite with one operating room.
