With a 4,100 ft2 library in the basement of an old school serving the Draper community of more than 25,000, and with a circulation increase of 26% over just a few years, the city recognized the need for a new, much larger facility.

Located in the historic district of Draper City, this design-build project is LEED certified and meets all LEED criteria for its use of environmentally friendly materials, holistic design and U.S. Green Building Council principles and criteria.

The design uses outside lighting as well as the re-use of storm water in the roof. Special features include 24 state of the art internet/computer workstations, a specially designed train-themed children’s area and storytime station and a two-sided fireplace near the adult reading area.

This building has been uniquely designed on an extremely tight budget. The project team continually looked for value engineering opportunities in order to keep the high profile project within its intended budget.
