Basin Recreation Field House Recreation Center was designed as a place for soccer, lacrosse and baseball teams to practice during the winter months and for local recreation programs.
The building’s main feature is a 28,000 ft2 indoor synthetic turf field. Other elements include an 8,000 ft2 running track, a room designed for aerobics, dance or weights and a support building. Interior and exterior colored stamped concrete was used for flooring.
Challenges to this project were the amount of snow and precipitation during the 2003-2004 winter months and its proximity to protected wetlands. This project was designed over budget by about $700,000; Layton value engineered the job and brought it back to the beginning budget. |
