Layton's Concrete Work Recognized with Excellence in Concrete Awards
The Layton Companies' concrete crews continue to complete award-winning work--five Layton projects have received 2009 Excellence in Concrete Awards from the Intermountain Chapter of the American Concrete Institute. All concrete for the winning projects was self-performed by Layton, who maintains one of the largest concrete crews in the Intermountain West and has been recognized both locally and nationally for its quality and innovative work. Winning projects and their project teams were celebrated at an awards banquet on March 27th.
Layton's winning projects include:
- Boise State University Stueckle Sky Center at Bronco Stadium, Boise, Idaho; Public Works category
- Cottonwood Recreation Center Ice Arena Renovation, Salt Lake City, Utah; Public Works category
- Rio Tinto Stadium, Sandy, Utah; Commercial category
- Uintah Community Center, Vernal, Utah; Public Works category
- Utah Valley University Library, Orem, Utah; Educational category
The Layton Companies' concrete crews work hard to offer a higher quality of service to their clients, distinguishing themselves from other contractors and subcontractors by offering continuous training to concrete specialists, full-time concrete specialists on all Layton sites, pre-task planning prior to every pour to ensure that high quality concrete is placed as efficiently as possible and post-placement meetings to discuss lessons learned and look for new and innovative ways to improve their concrete work.
"On each of these award-winning projects, Layton was selected based on [its] reputation for quality, lasting concrete," said Mike Sears, Layton's Director of Concrete Operations. "Both the project owners and the design teams have requested that Layton self-perform the concrete work. This is a testament to the hard-working employees who put their all into each project we complete."
